A Visit From Fairy Puck

Author's Note: Inspired by "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (A.K.A. "The Night Before Christmas"), I Present: "A Visit from Fairy Puck" based on "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Shakespeare.
Enjoy :)

‘Twas a midsummer’s night
And all that is dreamt
Is kept safe and sound
In a magical vent

A vent that is written
In only one book
One play
One fay
That we may
Overlook

And that fay
As we have it
Can be quite a pest
But one graceful Puck
Can be quite the jest

Mixing up trouble
Wherever he goes
The lovers
Their story, as everyone knows

Hermia, Helena, Lysander too
Are met in the wood
And awaiting their cue

But when lovers lie down
The actors arrive
Making mess of their parts
And sound quite a jive

Pyramus, Thisbe
Too lovers apart
Find way through a wall
But alas must depart

Through lion’s blood
On a scarf drenched in mud
Take their lives in their hands
For spiteful demands

One down
Two down
And is all gone
But Peter the Quince ensures nothing went wrong

And us shadows
Forever we sing
And we wish you no harm
For all you have dreamt
Guarded with alarm

So alas my dear Puck
Give me your hands
If we shall be friends
And I shall restore amends.

Can we get much higher?

Can we get much higher?
I wanna fly
With you
And be free

Can we get much louder?
I wanna let it out
And listen to the sound

Can we move any faster?
I wanna dance
In a trance
Forever

Can we get much happier?
Maybe not now
Cause we’re as happy
As we could be

Can we get much higher?

Author’s Note: Hahaha! Ok so I know what you’re thinking. And yes, this did come from a Kanye West song called “Dark Fantasy”. No, but I was just in a good mood and this song came on, and I was like “I’m gonna write a poem.” :D

You - Another Summer Camp Poem

Everywhere I go I think of you

Under the skies
Under the blue
I think of you

Under the trees
The warm summer breeze
I think of you

50 muffins await me there
200 frosted
I won’t be square
Everywhere I go I think of you

The feelings I get
With that cool summer sweat
I think of you

They have to say
Don’t sneak away
But we do anyway
Because that’s just our nature

Maybe this doesn’t rhyme
Along those lines

But all I know is
Everywhere I go
I think of you

Author's Note: Another poem about camp. The 50 muffins and 200 frosted refers to a saturday morning camp tradition. Don't ask, it's kinda hard to explain, haha.
To all of my friends from camp reading this, I LOVE YOU!!!! :D

What Defines Us

I always write the title at the end
Because
The title defines the writing
And you can’t define something
That doesn’t exist.

I always make sure people spell my name right
Because
A name can define a person
And you can’t define a person
Whose name doesn’t exist.

I always make sure people know where I’m from
Because
People define their place
And you can’t define a place
Where people have never been.

I always make sure I know where I stand
Because
Our emotions define us
And one cannot define oneself
If one does not know they exist.

I always make sure people know that I care
Because
The way we treat others is how we’re defined
And if we are careful
This might turn out right.

I always write the title at the end.

Spirits

In the days of the dry and yellow
The dry and yellow sun
Arriving so free
Is all the fun

I see the first face
Then second
Then third
Peering out the window
My spirits high like a bird

And finally
After a year
It’s finally here

My longing was gone
And hearing the songs
The beautiful, wonderfully
Satisfying sound of the spirit
Flowing through their words

And every time here
The blue sky as blue as aquamarine
I think of the things that I’ve longed for and then

I know peace has come at last
In the paradise of summer camp.

Dreams

Author's Note: I actually finished writing this today for Language Arts class at school.
Structure type: Sonnet
Enjoy :)

Some say at night we only sleep, not dream,
And in our sleep we rest our precious mind.
Our brains, you see are not as they may seem
More powerful than all that you could find.

Some say our dreams are our salvation
From the evil eye seen in the daylight.
And when we are tempted by temptation,
We hope to have peaceful dreams in the night.

But wrathful our dreams may be as we sleep.
Caused by our visions, our mind starts to bend.
What if we stayed up and counted the sheep?
What do we do when we wish them to end?

But when we awake, and morning has come,
Overall, our dreams just make us feel numb.

A Sticky Situation

This is just to shake it up a bit. A riddle poem. See if you can guess what it's about :)

I cling
I stick
I follow you around
Wherever you go
Until you finally manage to pull me off

And you are careless
As always

You toss me onto the ground
In front of you
Or behind

And sometimes
I get stepped on
By that very person
That I clung to

But other times
I am simply neglected
And stepped on so many times
That I blacken in dismay

And someday
Someone will look down
And wonder
What happened to me
